Hello! I’m Megan Chambers, aka CareerDork.
I'm a career development leader, coach, and educator who has spent my career helping graduate students and working professionals navigate meaningful career decisions. I’m currently the Associate Director of Graduate Career Development at the University of Denver, in Denver, Colorado. I began CareerDork in May 2020 as a way to help people in my community outside of higher education.
With almost a decade of experience in higher education career services, career counseling, and professional development, I've worked with individuals at every stage of their career journey, from exploring possibilities to pursuing leadership opportunities. My passion is helping people identify their strengths, clarify their goals, and create careers that align with the lives they want to build.
Too often, talented people believe they should already have everything figured out. The truth is that careers are rarely linear. They evolve as we learn more about ourselves, our priorities, and the world around us. I believe career development isn't just about finding a job. It's about building confidence, making intentional choices, and creating a sustainable path forward.

Why I Love this Work
There is nothing more rewarding to me than watching someone gain clarity and confidence about their future.
I've seen firsthand how career support can change the trajectory of a person's life. A well-crafted application, a stronger understanding of personal strengths, a successful interview, or simply permission to pursue a different path can open doors that once seemed out of reach.
Career development is deeply personal work. It requires reflection, courage, and sometimes a willingness to challenge assumptions about what success should look like. My role is to provide guidance, encouragement, and practical strategies that help people move forward with purpose. I believe everyone deserves meaningful work that honors their values, leverages their strengths, and supports the life they want to live.
My career coaching and career development work is fueled by my life outside of work: spending time with my family and friends, hobbies, and being outside in nature. I live with my husband and daughter in Denver, CO.
Education and Expertise
I hold a Master of Science degree in Career Counseling from California State University, Sacramento and have spent a decade working in career development within higher education and related settings. I also have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Scripps College.
Throughout my career, I've partnered with graduate students, faculty, employers, and organizational leaders to support career readiness, professional development, leadership growth, and career exploration. My work draws from evidence-based career development practices, strengths-based coaching, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
My areas of professional expertise include: Graduate and professional student career development, career exploration and decision-making, strengths-based coaching, career transitions and pivots, networking and relationship building, resume, cover letter, and CV tailoring and strategy, LinkedIn and interview strategy, professional branding, and career storytelling.
